Disaster Partially Averted Well, my fifteen minutes of fame have been recorded for broadcast on next Saturday's WB Kids on Channel 9. I spent longer waiting and being in the make-up chair than actual filming, but that's fine by me! I spent some time last night practising drawing Hobart - that's the dog from Dogstar, and was quietly pleased with my efforts: However, I find out this morning that the show's organisers have set up an easel for me to do the drawing on which causes me some consternation. Anyway, after 15 minutes of waiting in the canteen, I'm shepherded into the make-chair to be worked on my Julian who says "Don't worry sweetie, I won't make you look like a drag queen." Thanks, Julian, I appreciate that. Still, he said I had very nice eye colour. Then it's onto the set where everyone is lovely and quite young and spunky (thus making me feel old and haggard) and I'm given a run down on what's going to be happening. I'm given the impression that this is a one-take sort of a deal. The presenters are pleasant but "in the zone", so they seem strangely absent mentally. Some creepy guy in an ugly mask called Monster is flitting around the set. Anyway, I think I managed to not sound like a total retard, but I have to say that trying to draw Hobart on an easel at an angle using a marker pen as thick as my wrist was a challenge. A challenge I failed at. It was reeeeeeeeally bad! Right up there with my infamous magazine quote: "A ball... a round ball." Depending on how dreadful it is, I'll try and get a copy of the segment for you all to laught at. I had so much make-up on my face. I looked like my sister!! It's Been Waaaaaaaaaaaay Too Long... ... since I did life-drawing. But I got the chance to do some drawing today with my students. It wasn't a particularly successful session, but I managed to get a few "not bads". All 5 minute poses. I have assignments to mark. Boo! Plus tonight I must practice drawing this fella: I'm going to be on TV showing "the kids" how to draw Hobart (from Dogstar, which is the animated series we worked on over a year ago). I sense an impending disaster, probably in the form of some stupid sentence coming out of my mouth that will be forever immortalised on the telly. 6 Armed Gibbon Something that I started for the Unit 16 forum's Character Tag Team thread where I was given this image to work from. There are so many other things I'd rather be, or at least should be drawing (like certain people's birthday art!), but I had to complete this for my own sense of closure. Plus I'd get scorn from the admins for not completing it. I'm crud at backgrounds, and I think this shows it, too. Even reference pictures heavily filtered cannot look any good when they're done by me. *sulks* Oh, and on a slightly related note, whilst looking at Deviant Art, I was incredibly disturbed to see that one of the Popular images seems to be a shot of a woman in corset get-up who appears to be peeing. That may not be what was happening, but to be honest, I didn't want to look any closer. Current Mood: blahCurrent Music: Back To Black - Amy Winehouse | | Saturday, April 5th, 2008 | | 9:50 am |
Ceiling Cat Is Watching You Bog SO found a cut-out origami version of Ceiling Cat. Needless to say, I was responsible for the dodgy folding effort, and now he graces the ceiling of the upstairs bathroom. Ceiling Cat, that is, not SO. Current Mood: blah | | Wednesday, March 26th, 2008 | | 12:00 am |
Finally... for ginnyjf For LJ friend, ginnyjf. I haven't stared long enough at the Phelps boys to get this to look right, but hopefully it's not too far off the mark. I really need more practice. Oh god, the more I look at it, the more dissatisfied I am! Current Mood: tired | | Tuesday, March 25th, 2008 | | 6:53 pm |
HP Art Love I came across this DA artist, rufftoon, and thought I should share with those who like HP. Here. And here. And here. And here. Current Mood: busyCurrent Music: Biology 2110/2120:Lectures On Anatomy and Physiology podcast - Dr Gerald Cizadlo | | Sunday, March 23rd, 2008 | | 4:57 pm |
A Joyous Easter To All! This is my first post to IJ. What with the rather stellar dickheadedness that LJ is manifesting at the moment, I thought it wise to start cross-posting on the offchance that my journal there gets deleted. Why it would, I have no idea. I don't write fanfic. I'm not gay or bi. I don't draw smut though I have been known to look at it, and I don't swear. Much. Nevertheless. Yes, a happy chocolate egg day to all. I don't know if any of you are connoisseurs of coffee drinks that come in a can, but according to SO, this one is one of the best: Although he calls it Whitey Coffee because of the ludicrous man's head on the front of the can. Honestly, I really don't know what that head is meant to represent. SO thinks white supremacy, though why whiteys should have the monopoly on fine canned "Real brewed" coffee, I have no idea. Easter is very underwhelming here. I'm not religious and there are no children to make sick with overpriced chocolate eggs, so it's just another day for us. However, traveler64 did draw my attention to Australia's duck fashion show which I have never heard of before, but which has apprently been going for 25 years. Have a picture of the cat attending to her toilet: Current Mood: blankCurrent Music: Perfume (score) - Simon Rattle |
